Project Complete: M6 Knutsford Southbound EV Charging Hub

Parco Civil Engineering & Groundworks recently completed works on the impressive new EV charging hub at M6 Knutsford Southbound Services, delivered for our valued client, SDE Group. Despite facing a few on-site challenges, we successfully handed over the project on time and to spec, showcasing once again our ability to deliver under pressure.

Scope of works included:

  • Installation of HV trenching from the primary substation to ring main units and through to the feeder substation
  • Civil engineering works to install three substation plinths
  • Installation of over 1km of underground ducting
  • Groundworks to support the installation of 12 new EV chargers
  • Installation of ARMCO barrier systems to protect critical assets
  • Installation of LV power cabinets and access base systems
  • All associated LV cable ducting
  • Installation of 800 metres of HV cable
  • Construction of multiple joint pits to enable final HV and LV connections and energisation
  • Full reinstatement and making good works across the site

All this was delivered while ensuring minimal disruption to one of the busiest service stations on the M6. Our team executed critical road crossings overnight at weekends, maintaining full operational capacity for the client and road users throughout the build.

It was a pleasure delivering this high-impact hub, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with SDE Group on future projects.
